SCHMIDT CAPTURES FOURTH CCAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK AWARD

CHICAGO, Ill. - Olivet Nazarene University's Tyler Schmidt (Valparaiso, Ind.) has claimed his fourth Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week award of the 2022-23 season after another high-scoring output during the week ending on Jan. 1.  The league office made the announcement on Tuesday morning.

Schmidt delivered 26 points on 10-of-17 shooting from the field with two three-pointers in a battle of two of the top scorers in the NAIA in a 75-69 victory over Taylor University (Ind.) on Friday.  The junior guard currently ranks sixth in the nation in scoring (23.5 ppg) and was going up against the fifth-leading scorer in Jason Hubbard, who finished with 23 points.

Schmidt also recorded seven rebounds, five assists, and four steals in the contest.

Olivet Nazarene is 11-4 overall and 6-1 in league play, one-half game behind a trio of frontrunners.
