TIGERS TEE OFF SEASON AT PLAYERS CLUB INVITATIONAL

YORKTOWN, Ind. – The Olivet Nazarene University men's and women's golf teams began their season in the Players Club Invitational. The women's team tied for 12th while the men finished in ninth place in the three-round event.

The women's meet teed off Friday morning with two rounds at the Players Club Golf Club, wrapping up with 18 holes on Saturday. Alexandria Jones turned in the top card for the Tigers, shooting a +27 to place 42nd.  Just five strokes behind was Lizzie Howard, who shot a consistent 83-83-82 through to finish in a six-way tie for 49th place. Lydia Steier kept the theme of consistency for ONU, carding an 85 and two 88's to tie for 63rd place. Faith Dalton and Mara Bakke wrapped up the event for the Tigers in t-71st and 79th place, respectively.

The men's meet followed the same format, teeing off Monday with 36 and finishing up Tuesday with one final round. Kyle Spence, a first team All-CCAC selection in 2021, was the top golfer for ONU in a tie for 16th place with a +6 card. His best round came in the first day, where he shot an even 72 in the second round. Jack Busch shot a pair of one-over 73's to finish +9 in a tie for 24th place. Rounding out the day for the Tigers were Jordan Evans and Caleb Stinespring. Evans carded a +14 to tie for 41st place while Stinespring tied for 50th place at +19.
