NO. 15 TIGERS FIRE FIVE PAST THE LAKERS SATURDAY EVENING

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The No. 15 Olivet Nazarene University men's soccer program stormed to a 5-1 victory over the Lakers of Roosevelt University Saturday evening. A three-goal first half was enough to put away the Lakers as Max Jasper, Justin Eisenmann, and Benjamin Struebelt all tallied on the goal sheet for the night.

ONU withstood pressure early as RU created great scoring opportunities early. The Lakers had 100% possession in the first four minutes of action. Roosevelt looked to take the lead early with back-to-back opportunities in the 8th minute but could not steer their shots on frame. Against the run of play, a miss-clearance from the visitors' backline fell to Jasper for the empty net goal one minute later. The goal opened up the game as Fabio slipped in Eisenmann behind the Green and Black's backline in the 34th minute to double the lead. Struebelt scored the third goal of the contest as he fired a rocket into the top corner of the net at the 37:47-mark and the Tigers held the comfortable 3-0 lead heading into the halftime break.

Halftime: No. 15 Olivet Nazarene 3, Roosevelt 0

The Tigers did not waste time adding to their lead. Five minutes into the second period, Struebelt completed his brace after receiving a pass from Eisenmann who nestled his shot into the bottom right corner. Eisenmann completed his brace in the 76th minute as Fabio Hasler cut his pass back to the Germany attacker for the one-time finish. The Lakers denied Mike Giannotta the shutout as the visitors were awarded a penalty kick in the 82nd minute. ONU went on to win their 12th game of the fall 5-1.
