ONU SWIM & DIVE FALLS IN DUAL COMPETITION AT LEWIS

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene University swim & dive teams dropped a dual at Lewis Saturday afternoon. The Tiger men lost 195.5-61.5 while the women fell 139-122.

Women's Meet

ONU opened the meet with a win in the 400-medley relay, with Katelyn Inman, Julieta Vega, Ashley Parry, and Allison Pearson teaming up to touch the wall first at 3:58.25.

Pearson had an excellent day in the pool, adding two more golds in her individual races. She went first in both the 200 IM (2:11.23) and 100 breaststroke (1:05.83), setting a Lewis pool record for the latter.

Vega took second in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.03), while Parry found the podium in the meet's shortest event, the 50 freestyle, placing third overall (25.55). These two shared the podium again in the 100 butterfly, with Parry finishing first (1:00.77) and Vega taking second (1:01.42).

Halle Briner finished as the runner-up in all three of her individual events, placing second in the 200 freestyle (1:57.60), 100 freestyle (54.56) and 200 IM (2:11.74). Taylor King finished runner-up in the 200 butterfly (2:23.28).

Grace Barnhart led the Tigers in the distance events, touching the wall first in the 500 freestyle (5:20.81) and taking silver in the 1000 freestyle (11:17.54). Inman finished just behind Barnhart in the 500 freestyle (5:25.53) and finished first in the 100 backstroke (1:01.35). Megan Schroeder added another gold for the Tigers in the 200 breaststroke (2:29.50).

The Tigers wrapped up the meet with a second-place finish in the 400-freestyle relay. Mia Points, Schroeder, Briner, and Pearson touched the wall at 3:45.28 to take silver.

Men's Meet

The Tiger men finished second in the 400-medley relay to open the meet. Nicholas Klenner, Liam Kuiper, Demarcus Washington and Timothy Braun teamed up to take second (3:33.17).

Klenner and Kuiper then split two-thirds of the podium in the 100 backstroke, with Klenner taking the top spot (52.29) and Kuiper finishing third (53.94). Kuiper also finished runner-up in the 200 breaststroke (2:16.63).

Peter Adams and Chase Aruskevicius took third in their respective events; Adams in the 100 breaststroke (1:00.75) and Aruskevicius in the 200 backstroke (2:01.97). Washington also took third in the 100 butterfly (53.52) while Jack Fries placed third in the 200 IM,

Mason Beall was the top Tiger in the distance events, placing third in the 500 freestyle (4:53.61) and second in the 1000 freestyle (10:15.71).

Braun, Porter Hoffman, Michael Quintana, and Fries wrapped up the Tigers' day with a third-place finish in the 400-freestyle relay, touching the wall at 3:14.52.

WHATS NEXT?

The Tigers will be back in the Perry Center to host the ONU Tri Invitational next Saturday, Nov. 12. The meet is set to begin at 11 a.m. CST.
