SLAUGHTER AND KAHAKU MARQUEZ EARN ALL-CCAC HONORS

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) announced on Monday afternoon its selections for the All-Conference teams.  Olivet Nazarene University men's volleyball had a pair of selections to the Second Team.  Both Max Slaughter and Collier Kahaku Marquez were gathered their first all-conference honors. 

 

A native of Honolulu, Hawaii, Slaughter led the Tigers throughout the whole season. Slaughter led ONU in a wide variety of categories including kills (301), kills per set (3.17), total attacks (693), points (365.5), service aces (37) and was second in hitting percentage (.238), digs (138), and digs per set (1.14).  Slaughter marked 10 or more kills in 17 matches and amassed one double-double against Viterbo when he recorded 19 kills and 14 digs.  The Tiger outside hitter notched a career-high 21 kills against Trinity Christian on March 24th and marked a career high seven service aces against Viterbo on March 19th.  Slaughter was also the first Tiger to win a CCAC Player of the Week award as he won the CCAC Attacker of the Week on March 22nd. 

 

A native of Salt Lake, Hawaii, Kahaku Marquez had an excellent season for the Tigers.  Kahaku Marquez led the team with a hitting percentage of .339, 24 solo blocks, and 114 total sets played.  He was second on the team with 204 kills, 1.79 kills per set, 289 points, 72 block assists, and total blocks with 96.  Kahaku Marquez marked a career-high 15 kills and six blocks against Cornerstone on January 14th, and hit a career-high clip of .611 against Roosevelt on February 24th. Collier amassed seven matches of double-digit kill totals and 11 matches with double-digit point totals. 

 

The Tigers finished their inaugural season with an 8-23 overall record and finished sixth in the conference with a 6-8 record.  The Tigers made the CCAC tournament in their first year of competition and are going to look to build upon their success in 2022 to next season.
