Women's Basketball Tops Missouri Baptist in Road Win

St. Louis, Mo. – The ONU women's basketball traveled to St. Louis to take on Missouri Baptist University on Friday. The Tigers were looking to avenge their 109-108 loss to MoBap on homecoming of last year. The Spartans won a close game in 2018, taking the lead with three seconds left in the game. The Tigers aimed to ensure that they did not suffer a similar fate in this year's match-up.

Tonight's game saw another tight battle between the two teams. The Tigers did manage to build a lead as high as fifteen points in the second half, but the Spartans found ways to rally to stay in the game. With the teams being evenly matched in nearly every statistical category, ONU had to rely on winning the steal and turnover battle to seal an 86-77 victory over the Spartans. The win improved Olivet's record to four and one on the season.

The Tigers shot 34.2% on the night, including going eleven-of-thirty-nine shooting from the three-point line. Three different ONU players scored in double digits, with Olivia Schmidt (SR/Eldridge, Iowa) and Zanna Myers (SO/Monticello, Ill.) each scoring 14 points to lead the team. Kayla Ross (SR/Elgin, Ill.) also scored in double figures, adding 10 points to the team's final score. Schmidt led the team in rebounds, pulling down seven boards for the game. Kennedy Johnson (SO/Romulus, Mich.) helped set-up the team's scoring, dishing out eight assists on the night.
