Tigerball Wins Again

Arlington Heights, Ill. – The Tigers steal a road win in a low scoring affair with Robert Morris. The Tigerball press was effective in today's game, causing 29 turnovers, but it did not lead to as many scoring opportunities as usual. The Robert Morris defense forced the Tigers to slow down and set up in the half-court offense, causing the team to struggle shooting from beyond the three-point line. However, the Tigers adapted and started attacking the paint and quickly erased a first-quarter deficit. Although the team struggled to shoot, they were winning the rebound battle, thanks to Olivia Schmidt (SR/Eldridge, Iowa), who grabbed 11 boards throughout the game. These rebounds helped the Tigers convert several second-chance opportunities and even more chances to shoot free-throws. At half-time, the Tigers led by a score of 37 to 33.

The Tigers coasted through the third quarter with their four-point lead, and then in the fourth quarter, they saw their opportunity to strike. Zanna Myers (SO/Monticello, Ill.) hit a crucial three-pointer that sparked a 13-2 run for the Tigers. Myers would lead her team in scoring for the day with 16 points on her team-high four made three-pointers. Only Kaitlyn Engle (FR/Wapakoneta, Ohio) shot a higher percentage from beyond the arc in this game, shooting 67%. As the game ended, the Tigers cushioned their victory with some late free-throws and won the game by a margin on 16.
