TIGERS BEAT TRINITY CHRISTIAN TO RESTART CONFERENCE PLAY

Palos Heights, Ill. – To restart conference play, the Tigers were able to run away with a victory against the Trolls of Trinity Christian College. After beating the Trolls earlier in the season, the Tigers knew they would come back with a vengeance. The Trolls displayed confidence in the first quarter by holding onto the lead until seven minutes into the game. A layup by Maggie Cora (FR/Lizton, Ind.) gave the Tigers their first lead of the game, and they never looked back, closing out the first quarter with a 26 to 19 lead. The defense would put their foot down in the second quarter, while the offense continued to shoot well. This gave the Tigers a 53 to 31 lead going into halftime.

The Tigers full-court press proved to be effective in the second half, with the first bucket being scored in transition by Kaitlyn Engle (FR/Wapakoneta, Ohio), thanks to a steal by Bree O'Neal (FR/Bloomington, Ill.). Over the course of the game, the defense was able to generate 44 turnovers, which led to 59 of the team's 113 points. Leading the way throughout this game was Sammy Stejskal (SR/Arlington Heights, Ill.), who had game-high marks in steals (seven) and points (23). Supporting Stejskal was Avery Curry (SO/Chicago, Ill. ), who went a perfect four-for-four from beyond the arc, and finished the game with 14 points. As a team, the Tigers never let their guard down and almost doubled their lead in the second half, winning by a margin of 43 points.
