TIGERS FALL TO ST. FRANCIS IN LATE GAME THRILLER

Bourbonnais, Ill. – The 11th ranked Saint Francis Fighting Saints won a hard-fought battle against the 24th ranked ONU Tigers at McHie Arena on Saturday afternoon. Senior Sammy Stejskal (SR/Arlington Heights, Ill.) shot 73% from the field and 50% from beyond the arc. Olivia Schmidt (SR/Eldridge, Iowa) shot 60% from both the field and from three-point range. The Tigers press defense was effective recording 26 turnovers, but unfortunately, they weren't hitting effectively beyond the arc, shooting only 36%.

After falling behind 17-2 early in the first quarter, the Tigers clawed back and finished the first half on a 15-6 run led by Caroline Boehne (SO/Hoffman, Ill.) who contributed 6 points during the run. Zanna Myers (SO/Monticello, Ill.) and Olivia Schmidt were crucial to the Tiger's third-quarter attack, contributing 5 points each during the period including momentum-shifting three-pointers. The Tigers gave up their lead with eight minutes remaining in the fourth quarter and would never regain it. A valiant effort from the Tigers wasn't enough to overcome the Fighting Saints who won today's matchup 92-86.
