ONU CRUISES TO VICTORY AGAINST ROOSEVELT

Chicago, Ill. – The Tigers went on the road to get a win against the Lakers from Roosevelt University. The Lakers jumped out to a quick lead with strong shooting from beyond the arc, but an early timeout gave the Tigers a chance to regroup and focus their attack. From here, the post players for ONU would dominate their matchups and ignite a 14-zero run to take a five-point lead. Then another eight-point run would push the Tigers to the end of the first quarter with a 26-17 lead. In the second quarter, Karina Smits (SO/Pewaukee, Wis.) and Sammy Stejskal (SR/Arlington Heights, Ill.) would hit crucial three-pointers to kill Roosevelt's momentum. This would help the Tigers get to halftime with a 47-38 lead.

Lately the trend for the Tigers has been to come out of halftime with a plan of attack, and that was the story in today's game as well. Stejskal and Kennedy Johnson (SO/Romulus, Mich.) would catch fire, and account for 20 of the team's 29 points in the quarter, giving them a 16-point advantage going into the final quarter. Stejskal would continue to dominate in the fourth quarter with 12 more points, giving her a total of 31 in the game. Not to be overlooked, Kayla Ross (SR/Elgin, Ill.) would contribute assists on two of Stejskal's three-pointers in the quarter. Ross would also tally several steals and assists for the Tigers, and her ability to facilitate for her team was just the spark they needed. Ultimately, the offensive attack of the Tigers proved to be too much for Roosevelt, resulting in a 100-81 victory for the Tigers.
