JOHNSON PUTS UP 30 IN BIG WIN AT SAINT AMBROSE

DAVENPORT, Iowa – To finish off their road trip, the Tigers took on Saint Ambrose University in an exciting back and forth game.

The Tigers had a solid first half, led by an 11-point effort from Kennedy Johnson (JR/Romulus, Mich.). Shooting 80% from the field, Johnson was the engine for the Tigers offense, alongside Zanna Myers (JR/Monticello, Ill.), who would add 9 points from beyond the arc. The Tigerball game plan was in full effect with the daunting press leading to 13 forced turnovers. Those turnovers would create the foundation for 11 points to be scored in transition. With the team running fast and free, seven different Tigers recorded an assist to maintain their up-tempo play. Then to conclude the half, Myers and Avery Curry (JR/Chicago, Ill. ) would both hit three-pointers to pull ahead by a margin of five.

Doubling down on her first-half performance, Johnson finished with a game-high and career-high 30 points on 12 of 17 from the field, including a clutch three-pointer in the final minute of the game. With time winding down, the Tigers had to keep their nerve at the free throw line, and Caroline Boehne (JR/Hoffman, Ill.) did just that. After splitting a set of free throws, Boehne got her own rebound and drew another foul to get back on the line. This time around she would hit both to ultimately cement a Tiger's victory.
