TIGERS FALL IN FINAL MOMENTS AGAINST TRINITY CHRISTIAN

Palos Heights, Ill. – In opening play for the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) regular season, the Tigers clashed with rival Trinity Christian in what will surely prove to be a crucial game on the year.

To open up play, the Trolls from Trinity Christian held possession for most of the first half, but the Tigers were difficult to defend in transition. The Tiger's stifling defense only allowed one shot on goal in the half and gave them the platform to attack their opponents. It was then in the eighth minute of the game, the Tigers found their breakthrough when Abby Cash (SO/Gardner, Ill.) linked play with Katie Knutte (SO/Lemont, Ill.) for a goal. Grabbing an early one-to-nothing lead, the Tigers held tough and made it into halftime with the advantage.

Throughout the second half, the Trolls offense took control and found a way around the Tiger's defense. With a flurry of shots coming towards goal, Samantha Tuuk (SO/Tinley Park, Ill.) had to stay on her toes to make eight total saves on the day, after only needing to make one in the first half. With an offensive burst, the Trolls converted the equalizer in the 72nd minute.

Then came overtime, which looked as if It would end in a stalemate. However, with only three seconds left on the clock, the Tigers conceded a free-kick and the Trolls took advantage of the opportunity. Scoring in the final moment of the game, the Trolls would defeat the Tigers by a score of two-to-zero.
