SAINT AMBROSE ADVANCE AS THEY DEFEAT ONU 1-0 IN CCAC QUARTERFINALS

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene women's soccer team finished their season with a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Saint Ambrose University Friday night in the first round of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Tournament. The Tigers finish the 2021-22 campaign with a final overall record of 9-7-3 while earning fourth in the conference regular season with 29 points.

Neither side could find the opening goal in the first 45 minutes of play. Marissa Anderson led the Tigers in creating opportunities with three shots in the first half. Teagon Albert placed a set-piece free-kick at 30:29 that forced the Fighting Bees' netminder into a save. SAU was continuously dangerous on the attack using their speed to put the backline under pressure. Samantha Tuuk held it down in front of the goal making two saves.

Saint Ambrose put on pressure out of the break. The Fighting Bees held the Tigers to zero shots until Emily Greene's opportunity was blocked in the 65th minute. Two minutes later, Susanna Lindquist broke free along the right side of the field forcing SAU's goalkeeper into a save. At the 82:33-minute mark, a clearance out of the box made it as far as Saint Ambrose's Kaitlyn Brunson whose low hard shot beat Tuuk at her right post to open the scoring. ONU looked to find a late equalizer in the 88th minute as Lindquist had another scoring chance but couldn't finish from a tight angle. Saint Ambrose saw out the remaining two minutes to advance to the CCAC Semifinals.
