TIGERS MAKE QUICK WORK OF BEES IN OPENING ROUND OF CCAC TOURNAMENT

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene University women's tennis team cruised to a 4-0 win over the St. Ambrose Fighting Bees in the opening round of the CCAC Tournament Monday afternoon.

The Tigers flew through the opening round of the CCAC Tournament, sweeping all three doubles matches and not dropping a single set in singles to take the match.

Nirval Patel and Natasha Nieto teamed up for a 6-2 win in the top doubles match. Chieh-Yu Chen and Audrey Zoeteman then won 6-1 at No. 2 doubles and Mia Schwada and Rachel Shuflit got the 6-2 win at No. 3 to take the doubles point.

In singles, Nieto set the tone with a quick 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 2. Chen then made quick work at No. 3, not dropping a single game en route to a 6-0, 6-0 win. Zoeteman then locked up the 4-0 win for ONU with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 3 to advance them to the semifinal round of the tournament.

WHAT'S NEXT?

The win advances the Tigers to the semifinal round of the CCAC Tournament, where they will face No. 1-seeded Holy Cross on the road Wednesday afternoon.
