CANNON, NICHOLAS EARN CCAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene University women's volleyball team collected two of the three Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Player of the Week honors for the week ending on Sept. 11, as announced by the league office Tuesday morning. Brianna Cannon was tabbed the Defender of the Week while Halle Nicholas was named the Attacker of the Week.

The pair led or were near the top of their respective stat categories in the conference, despite only playing in two conference matches while the majority of the CCAC has already taken on three conference tilts.

Cannon, the senior Libero for the Tigers, had a stellar week on the backline. The San Diego, Calif. native racked up 20-plus digs in both contests, good for two game-highs in matches where ONU only surrendered one set in total. Cannon leads the CCAC in digs per set with 7.29 and is tied for fourth in total digs at 51 in just two matches.

Nicholas, a sophomore from Warren, Mich., led the attacking assault for the Tigers. The outside hitter put away a season-high 20 kills over IU-South Bend and followed her performance up with 14 more against IU-Northwest. Nicholas sits atop the conference rankings in both kills per set (4.86) and points per set (5.8). Her 34 total kills and .269 attacking percentage place her in the top-six in both CCAC categories through two matches.

The duo helped ONU get out to a perfect 2-0 start in conference play. The Tigers will continue their CCAC campaign with a road matchup against (RV) Saint Xavier Tuesday night. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m. CST.
