ONU SPLITS FIRST DAY OF HOME TOURNAMENT

BOURBONNAIS, IL – The first round of the 2022 Holiday Inn Classic took place on Ralph "Tres" Hodge court of McHie Arena at Olivet Nazarene University on Friday, September 23, 2022.

After a slow start to the set, trailing behind MU by two points, the Tigers fired off eight straight points. The Sabres couldn't keep up and surrendered the set to ONU with a score of 25-16.

The start of the second set looked promising for the Sabres as they secured the first three points. Despite a kill by Cozen putting the Tigers on the board, they couldn't keep up with the back to back points made by the Sabres. The Tigers picked up the pace with a kill by Bate putting them within two points of MU. After a back and forth of scoring, the Tigers asserted dominance with Techiya Jackson and Bate snatching two back to back kills. The Sabres handed ONU the set after an attack error with a score of 26-24.

The third set had a slow start for ONU as MU managed to score early on. Despite having the lead for the majority of the set, the Sabres fell to ONU after several attack errors, ending the set and the match with a score of 25-22.
