RAINEY NAMED TO AFCA NAIA ALL-AMERICA SECOND TEAM

WACO, Texas – Offensive lineman Terrian Rainey added another accolade to his illustrious senior season as he was named to the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) NAIA All-America Second Team, the league office announced Thursday. Wide receiver Brian Jenkins earned an All-American Honorable Mention nod from the AFCA.

Rainey, an Atlanta, Ga. native, spent nine games protecting the blindside at the left tackle position for the Tigers. He was named to the Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) Midwest League's First Team and was tabbed the Offensive Lineman Year by the league for his work in the trenches this season.

Behind Rainey and the offensive front, the ONU offense averaged nearly 400 total yards per game, the highest mark in the MSFA-Midwest league.

A three-time all-conference selection, Rainey is the 24th ONU player all-time named to an AFCA Coaches' All-America Team.

Jenkins was named an AFCA All-America Honorable Mention after his historic season for ONU. The senior wide receiver from West Lafeyette, Ind. brought down an MSFA-Midwest leading 12 touchdown grabs this season, setting an ONU single-season record.

The AFCA's NAIA All-America Selection Committee is made up of two head coaches from each of the AFCA's seven districts, one of whom serves as a district chairman, along with another head coach who serves as the chairman of the selection committee. The coaches in each district are responsible for ranking the top players in their respective districts prior to a conference call between the district chairmen and the committee chairman on which the team is chosen.
