LAMB NAMED AFCA NAIA FIRST TEAM ALL-AMERICAN, LEAKE ON THIRD TEAM
WACO, Texas – Blake Lamb and Evan Leake, senior members of the Olivet Nazarene University football team, added to their decorated resumes as they were named American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) NAIA All-Americans. The league office announced its All-American selections Wednesday.
Lamb was named the NAIA's first-team tight end while Leake was selected as a third-team specialist. They become the 25th and 26th ONU players to be named AFCA All-Americans.
Lamb, from Cincinnati, Ohio, was the Tigers' go-to receiver from the tight end position. He led the team in receptions with 40 to go with his team-leading nine touchdowns while finishing second on the squad with 617 receiving yards.
A back-to-back all-Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) first-team selection, Lamb is the 12th ONU player all-time named to an AFCA All-America first team and the first since Jason Freeman was named to the defensive first team in 2021.
Leake landed on the AFCA NAIA All-American third team as an all-purpose selection after racking up 640 total return yards this season. The Mt. Vernon, Ill., native returned 19 kickoffs for 564 yards, good for a 29.7 yards per return average, and housed one touchdown.
Recently named to the all-MSFA team for a fifth time, Leake becomes the first Tiger to be selected as a third-team AFCA All-American. The league officially added a third team in 2023.
The AFCA's NAIA All-America Selection Committee consists of two head coaches from each of the AFCA's seven districts, one of whom serves as district chairman, and another of whom serves as chairman of the selection committee.
