GROSS SWEEPS CCAC AND NAIA MEN'S BASKETBALL OF THE WEEK HONORS

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – Olivet Nazarene University men's basketball center Alex Gross won his fifth Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Player of the Week and his first National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Men's Basketball Player of the Week of the season as both organizations announced its selections on Tuesday. This is Gross' second career NAIA men's basketball Player of the Week of his career. 

 

Gross turned in an excellent week for the Tigers in their three contests.  The native of Hope, Ind. marked double-doubles in all three games.  Against Trinity International, Gross marked a career-high 22 rebounds and a season-high eight blocks to go along with 20 points.  Against Calumet, the Tiger big man grabbed another 17 rebounds and scored 20 points.  Finally, on Saturday against Cardinal Stritch, Gross scored a career-high 40 points and grabbed 14 boards. 

 

Gross leads the NAIA with 14 rebounds a game, 321 total rebounds, and with 261 defensive rebounds.  Gross also leads the nation in total blocks with 72 and is third with 3.3 blocks a game.  Gross is also 19th in the nation averaging 21 points a game.
