MARK TUN STEPS DOWN AS HEAD MEN’S SOCCER COACH

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – After an incredible season leading the Olivet Nazarene University men's soccer program, Mark Tun announced his resignation as head coach, effective today. He will be taking an assistant coach position with the men's soccer team at the University of Albany, an NCAA Division I program located in Albany, N.Y.

"Coach Tun led the men's soccer program to another highly successful season and we are incredibly grateful for the positive impact he had on the program on and off the pitch," said Glenn. "We wish him nothing but the best in his next opportunity."

Tun took the reins of the ONU men's soccer program in May 2023 and led it to another stellar season. The team went 12-3-4 overall and posted a 8-1-2 record in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) play to win the conference title outright for the third straight year.

The Tigers then made quick work of the CCAC Tournament, downing Roosevelt in penalty kicks in the finals to claim their third-consecutive conference tournament championship. The Tigers also qualified for the NAIA National Tournament for the 10th time in program history.

Under Tun's tutelage, the 2023 squad produced five all-conference selections while Nick Kilian was named the CCAC Player of the Year. The senior defenseman from Stahnsdorf, Germany was also named an NAIA Third Team All-American in his first season under Tun.

Along with the success on the field, Tun oversaw the program's success in the classroom. Five of Tun's student-athletes were named NAIA Daktronics Scholar-Athletes while Nick Kilian was named a first team CSC Academic All-American for the second consecutive season.

A 2018 graduate of Benedictine University (Ill.), Tun's successful four-year playing career saw the Eagles compile their two highest win totals in program history and an NCAA Tournament Round of Sixteen appearance in 2016.

The search for his replacement will begin immediately.
