ONU COLLECTS THREE OF FOUR CCAC WEEKLY AWARDS; ANTKOVIAK, GIULIANO EARN NATIONAL HONORS

CHICAGO, Ill. – Olivet Nazarene University took three out of the four weekly CCAC Track & Field Athlete of the Week honors. The men took the sweep courtesy of the performances of Vince Giuliano and Noah Sears, while Hannah Antkoviak claimed the women's track award for her efforts on the oval. The league office announced their awards Wednesday.

Additionally, Giuliano and Antkoviak were both named the NAIA Men's and Women's Indoor Track Athletes of the Week, respectively, for their fantastic weeks on the track.

Giuliano was named the CCAC Track Athlete of the Week for the second time this winter after establishing a pair of new school records en route to winning both events that he competed in at the Grand Valley State University (Mich.) Big Meet Friday.

The senior's time of 20.96 seconds in the 200-meter dash not only was an 'A' standard, but also topped the NAIA performance list in that event this year.  He defeated 22 other challengers in a loaded field of qualifiers on Friday.

Just as solid was Giuliano's mark in the 400-meter dash, where he placed first among 25 with an NAIA 'A' standard time of 47.59 seconds.

Sears also hit the NAIA 'A' standard in the pole vault, where the senior cleared the second-highest mark among 26 participants with his height of 16 feet at the Grand Valley State meet.  That ranks as the fifth-best mark in the NAIA this year.

Antkoviak recorded four NAIA 'A' standard marks at the Grand Valley State University (Mich.) Big Meet Friday en route to CCAC Track Athlete of the Week accord.  Included was the 60-meter hurdles, where she clocked in at 8.58 seconds to place third overall out of 48 challengers.

The junior also was third out of 28 in the 400-meter dash with her 54.17-second time and fourth among 80 participants in the 200-meter dash, finishing in 24.65 seconds.

Antkoviak's best finish of the day came as part of ONU's 4x400-meter relay team, which crossed the finish line in 3 minutes, 44.95 seconds to place second among 17 teams.

The Tigers will look to repeat as conference champions when they host the CCAC Indoor Track & Field Championships this weekend at the Perry Center.
