McAFEE, STARANCHUK EARN CCAC MEN’S VOLLEYBALL WEEKLY HONORS

CHICAGO, Ill. – Olivet Nazarene University's Brody McAfee and Sterling Staranchuk have been named two out of the three Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Volleyball Players of the Week.  The league made the announcement on Tuesday.

McAfee gained his second straight and third overall CCAC Attacker of the Week award after producing double-figure kill counts in each of his three matches.  He finished the week averaging 3.60 kills per set with a .316 attack percentage, while also recording eight blocks.

What set the freshman opposite-side hitter apart from the other nominees were his 11 kills and three block assists in a 3-0 win over conference foe St. Ambrose University last Tuesday.  His best match of the week came on Saturday when he averaged 3.75 kills per set, attacked at a .387 clip and totaled three blocks in a four-set decision over Siena Heights University (Mich.).

Staranchuk's 1.2 blocks-per-set average netted him CCAC Defender of the Week accord.  He totaled 12 blocks over the three matches covering ten sets with the highlight being his eight blocks versus St. Ambrose.

The senior middle blocker also attacked at a .423 clip, while averaging 1.4 kills per set for the week.

Olivet Nazarene's 2-1 week put the Tigers at 9-8 overall and 4-1 in league affairs.
