RV TIGERS ONE WIN AWAY FROM CCAC CHAMPIONSHIP WITH 3-0 WIN OVER HCC

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The RV Olivet Nazarene University women's soccer team is one win away from clinching the CCAC regular season title after defeating Holy Cross 3-0 on Senior Night. Melea Miller scored her 13th goal of the season while Alaina Bahr and Marissa Anderson found the net in the victory.

The Tigers came out strong setting the tone in the opening half. Olivet outshot Holy Cross 7-1 for the half forcing the Saints' netminder to make two saves. Miller scored what was ultimately the game-winning goal in the 20th minute. A short corner from Abbey Cash to Sara Loichinger set up a ball to be served to the far post. The freshman attacker's close-range first-time volley put ONU ahead 1-0. HCC was held to only one shot on goal in the first 45 minutes with Jaici Wright up to make the save.

Halftime: RV Olivet Nazarene 1, Holy Cross 0

ONU put the game away with two goals in the second half. Alaina Bahr doubled the home side's advantage only 59 seconds into the second half. The Saints cleared their box but only as far as Bahr at the top of the penalty box. Her first-time shot lofted over HCC's goalkeeper for her 5th goal of the campaign. Anderson put the game out of reach in the 60th minute. Her tenacity on a corner kick forced the visitor's clearance to ricochet off her shin finding the bottom corner of the net to increase the score to 3-0. Wright secured the clean sheet with her second save of the match going full-stretch to stop a headed attempt from a Holy Cross corner in the 78th minute of play.

With the victory, the Tigers are one win away from securing the conference title. In a tight race with Cardinal Stritch, both programs are level with 31 points heading into the final game of the regular season. Olivet owns the head-to-head tiebreaker after their 3-1 win over the Wolves back on Oct. 1.
