TIGERS CLAIM FIVE SPOTS IN THE 2022 CCAC POSTSEASON AWARDS

CHICAGO, Ill. – The RV Olivet Nazarene University women's soccer players were awarded a conference-best eight positions in the 2022 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference postseason awards. Seniors Abbey Cash and Sarah Loichinger were highlighted as First-Team honorees in the announcement made by the CCAC Monday afternoon.


Cash, a native of Gardner, Ill., and Loichinger, a native of New Lenox, Ill., led the Tigers to the program's eighth regular season championship with a record of 14-5-1 overall and a conference record of 11-1-1. Cash is receiving the honor for the second consecutive year. The outside back led the team in assists with eight while netting five goals on the season. Number three's most memorable performance came against Cardinal Stritch being involved in all three of ONU's goals in a 3-1 win over CSU that ultimately was the deciding tie-breaker for the Tigers winning the conference.


In an incredible comeback season from missing the 2021 season due to injury, the senior outside back was tied for second as the team's leading goal scorer (7), assist provider (6), and total points scorer (20). Number six's standout performance of the year came against Trinity Christian. The outside back scored both goals in a 2-1 victory over the Trolls. She carried a point streak of nine games that spanned the entire month of September accumulating 15 points from Sept. 3 through Oct. 8.


Marissa Anderson, Melea Miller, and Alaina Bahr rounded out the All-Conference award selections as second-team members. Anderson anchored the backline and the central midfield contributing to the team's eight shutouts over the course of the year. The Senior scored three goals and three assists with her best performances came against Holy Cross where she scored once and held the Saints to no goals over the two games played. Miller led the team in goals scored (14) and total points (34) as a freshman. She was one of two freshmen in the entire conference to be named in the post-season awards. Bahr played an integral in the Tigers' midfield. The sophomore scored five goals and five assists carrying ONU down the stretch with a six-game point streak in their final seven matches.

The RV Tigers will travel to Pulaski, Tennessee after drawing the three-seed in the Tennessee Southern Region of the NAIA Opening Rounds.
