FOURNIER’S TOP 15 FINISH LEADS NO. 18 TIGERS AT GREAT LAKES CHALLENGE

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.Eleanor Fournier was the top finisher for the No. 18 Olivet Nazarene University women's cross country team at the stacked NAIA Great Lakes Challenge Saturday morning.

The junior harrier eclipsed the 19-minute threshold for the first time in her collegiate career with a time of 18:57.4 in the 5k race to finish 14th overall in the 189-runner "maroon" race. The Canton, Ill., native took nearly 30 seconds off her time from the Live in the Lou Classic three weeks prior.

Hannah Haag and Bella Hoffer continued their stellar freshman campaigns at the Great Lakes Challenge. Haag nearly cracked the top 30, crossing the finish line at 19:27.1. Hoffer was only a few paces behind in 55th place with a time of 19:46.3. Elise Champlin crossed the finish line at 20:10.4 to finish 82nd. Lauren Smith rounded the scoring for ONU in 109th place at 20:40.4.

The No. 18 Tigers tabbed a final score of 285 to place 10th out of 22 teams in the women's "maroon" race. Conference foe St. Francis (Ill.) took the team title with 76 points.

The ONU women's cross country team will now head to the postseason at the CCAC Conference Championships on Saturday, Nov. 4 at the Sunset Hill Farm County Park in Valparaiso, Ind.
